Batistuta missed out on World Cup glory at three attempts in 1994, 1998 and 2002 after twice winning the Copa America with Argentina in 1991 and 1993. 'Batigoal' broke several Italian scoring records during a decade at Fiorentina and won the Italian Serie A title with Roma in 2001.
